Finding out Linthicum Maryland is named after my ancestors.

My 6 month Ancestry membership expired today (and no, this isn't an advertisement post). I've spent the past year researching my family tree and genealogy more deeply. I've found a lot of interesting facts about my ancestors, took the Ancestry DNA test, and even found some skeletons in the closet! The earliest ancestors I've been able to trace, actually have a community named after them: Linthicum, Maryland!

Linthicum
was my late Nana's maiden name. Her father Dabney Linthicum was descended from a line that goes all the way back to 1658, when Thomas Linthicum Sr. arrived in America and settled in Maryland, Anne Arundel County. He passed away in 1701. Through his son Thomas Jr. our line descended:

  • Thomas Linthicum Jr.
  • Edmund Linthicum Sr.
  • Edmund Linthicum Jr.
  • John T Linthicum
  • William H Linthicum
  • George W. Linthicum (My Great Great Grandfather)
  • Dabney O Linthicum (My Great Grandfather)
  • Dabney's Daughter: Dorothy V. Linthicum, (My late Grandmother)
(My public ancestry family tree can be found here).

Neat Facts:

  • John T Linthicum married Francis Dabney in 1816. Her maiden name later became my Great Grandfathers first name.
  • Hill C Linthicum the brother of my great great grandfather George Linthicum, was a famous Architect in Virginia and North Carolina.
  • There's a genealogy book: Geneology of the Linthicum and Allied Families that was published about the Linthicum Family in 1936, written by Matilda P Badger.
  • Our family is distantly related to Johns Hopkins, Philanthropist. We share the same early ancestor Thomas Linthicum Sr. Only his line was through Thomas's daughter Mary. Our line is through her brother Thomas Jr. (Page 83 in the Linthicum Genealogy book).
My Great Grandfather: Dabney O Linthicum & Great Grandmother: Nellie Capper.
My Nana Dorothy V Linthicum as a teenager, with her Mother Nellie.
The earliest record I've found of Thomas Linthicum Sr, a document stating Edward Selby transported Thomas here on a ship to Maryland from England in 1658. I'm not sure if Thomas was indentured to Edward. (The Linthicum surname was also spelled Lincicomb, Linscombe, etc; in old records).

The burial record of Thomas Linthicum Sr in 1701.

& my Grandfather William.

Christalena ♥

This is the hardest post I have ever had to write. How do you even sit down and begin to write about someone that was so close to you? Not just cousins, but sisters. My cousin Chrissy lost her battle with cancer December 3rd, 2017. She was only 33 years old.

Zoya: Dahlia, Mira, Sarah

My cousin surprised me with a belated Christmas gift the other day. 3 Zoya's from the latest promo sale. She sent me Dahlia, Mira, Sarah all colors I've been wanting. :-)

Dahlia is so pretty! It's a black and silver texture polish. I love the Zoya Pixiedusts, they are my favorite texture polishes. I only needed two coats.

Mira a bright purple cream. It reminds me a bit of China Glaze Spontaneous, one of my other favorite purples. I only needed 2 coats and 1 coat of Seche Vite. I stamped the Hummingbird with Winstonia Store 2nd Gen stamp plate W202

Zoya Sarah is a pretty metallic red. It reminds me of China Glaze Ruby Pumps. (We'll see if they're similar in an upcoming post). The formula was good, I only needed 2 coats and topcoat. The stamp is from MoYou London Kitty 11.

I also got a new larger squishy stamper on eBay. I've been using a smaller pink stamper from Winstonia Store. I love how good the images transfer with the squishy stamper!

Belated Birthday Gifts!

Tuesday morning after the Government Shutdown set in and I was told not to report to work, I got a nice surprise in the mail. Belated Birthday gifts from my cousin in Georgia. Boy... did I ever need that to cheer me up!

At least I got to take my mind off the shutdown by doing some swatches of my new polish.

This is OPI Dining Al Frisco. I could have gotten away with just one coat the formula was that nice. But I did 2 coats & 1 of Seche Vite topcoat. I stamped with Messy Mansion plate MM20.

OPI Solitare. I've wanted this actually, it reminds me of snow. It's a pretty white texture polish with silver sparkles. I needed 3 coats. I stamped with Winstonia Store plate W120. I used OPI Dining Al Frisco for the snowflakes. I can't wait until it's cold enough to wear this design again.

OPI Gargantuan Green Grape, is a pretty light mint color. The formula is runny though, I needed 3 coats and 1 coat of Seche Vite topcoat. I used Messy Mansion plate MM06 for the design.

Visiting the Santa Catharina Cargo Ship.

On Tuesday we got to visit my Father in law here in Philadelphia. My Father in law is a ship captain and gets to travel the world. (He goes back home to the Philippines for around 6 months every year). The ship he is on right now is trading between Costa Rica, Columbia and Philadelphia.

So on Tuesday my husband and I drove down to Pier 82 at Coloumbus Blvd, on the Delaware River to meet up with my Father in law. (The last time I saw my Father in law was January 2010, and F.B. hasn't seen his Dad since he came to the USA in 2011).

The ship was docked until the next morning. They were unloading lots and lots of bananas, (that are probably in almost every supermarket in Philadelphia right now.) My Father in law gave us a tour of the ship and we got to visit for about 2 hours. I should have worn my sneakers, instead of flip flops though! Lot's of stairs in the ship!

We needed guest passes to tour the ship.

They were unloading bananas.

My husband pretending to "drive" the ship.

My Father in law showing us the ships radar.

All of us.

Up on the deck. You could see the sport stadiums, etc in the distance from up there.

Historic ship also down at Pier 82, that Philadelphia is trying to restore. The SS United States.

In my Father in laws office on the ship.

The Benjamin Franklin Bridge on the way home, stuck in traffic on I-95.

My husband got some Pringles from his Dad, from the ships private stash. Lol.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! We had a quiet Christmas. Christmas Eve we had Alfredo sauce & bow tie pasta with mushrooms & bacon. And strawberry cheesecake for dessert.

Christmas tree at 30th Street Station, Philadelphia

F.B. & I exchanged gifts Christmas Eve. We're poor, so we just got each other 1-2 gifts each. I got F.B. The Dark Knight Trilogy Dvd & 84 mini bags of Herr's Potato Chips!

F.B. got me the Victoria's Secret Pink set. My favorite perfume.

Christmas Day we met my parents & brothers at a Chinese Buffet near Franklin Mill's Mall. Then we went back to my parents house to exchange gifts. My parents got us a George Foreman Grill so we can grill at our apartment now! :-)

New Year's Eve we stayed home. I cooked a ham and homemade mashed potatoes. Around 11pm we watched the Rockin' New Years Eve on 6abc and had crackers, cheese, pepperoni and toasted with Martinelli's Sparkling Apple Cider.

And just some other random Instagram Photos...

 My new favorite red wine.

Black Converse All Stars with silver sequins I got on eBay!

In work news, I was furloughed on December 21st... but... my manager just called me today and I will be back to work January 8th. So it was a pretty short furlough. My unemployment wasn't even set up yet, though I can still claim for the weeks I did not work.
