Zoya Delight: Butterfly Gradient

✯ PR Samples Mentioned ✯

I've seen some really amazing nail art with the Zoya Delight collection lately, (See: Polish Hound, Painted Nubbs, and Manna's Manis!) And I wanted to try my hand at some as well.

I decided to do a gradient with the Zoya Delight Collection (press sample). I started with a a base of OPI Alpine Snow, and then sponged on Zoya Lillian, Leslie, and Eden. China Glaze Fairy Dust was applied, before using the butterfly water decals (XF1438) I was sent by the Born Pretty Store, and I dotted on Zoya Tomoko with the nail art brush BPS also sent me. I used Seche Vite topcoat.

The water decals are very easy to work with. You cut out the decals you want to use, then fill a bowl or cup with lukewarm water. For me, I hold the decal with my thumb & index finger in the water- you will start to feel the decal slide off onto your finger when it's ready. Then I flip it around and place on my nail. Don't be afraid of ruining the decal, they aren't that delicate- so it's easy to maneuver them. Once the decal is placed on my nail, I dab the excess water off with a napkin or tissue before top coating.

The rhinestone nail art brush is surprisingly well made. It's got some heft to it when you hold it in your hand. The rhinestones in the handle are purely for decoration. I like that it comes with a lid to protect your brush. The brush itself has a very fine tip.

PolishM: Warm Sugar Cookies

*Note: PolishM was formerly known as Laquerlicious.

Warm Sugar Cookies was a limited holiday color from PolishM. The color was so popular, she brought it back to her shop, which made my day since I missed when it was originally available around the holidays.

Warm Sugar Cookies is a nude pink polish with pink & gold micro flakes, and pink & gold micro glitter. I applied two thin coats. The formula is gritty when it dries, you need a thick topcoat so it won't be bumpy. I did two thin coats of Gelous, and then 1 coat of Seche Vite. Isn't it just gorgeous? I love it!

I decided to do an accent nail with my favorite rose decals from the Born Pretty Store. (You can read the review on the decals, and another PolishM manicure I did here).

Here's Warm Sugar Cookies with a matte topcoat:

Born Pretty Store: Chameleon Holo # 217

✯ PR Sample ✯

The Born Pretty Store recently sent me some more products to review. Today I have one of their new multi chrome chameleon polishes. I was sent color number #217. (I'm not sure why the bottle says 'holo', this is definitely not a holographic polish).

All of the their chameleon polishes, require that you start with a base of black nail polish. I did two coats of Born Pretty Store #217, over a base of Dance Legend No. 315. The formula is sheer, but two coats over black and you are ready to go. It's very color shifty, depending on the angle of your hands, you'll see: Blue, Purple, Pink.

The only con for me is the size and the price. The bottle is only 0.2 oz, (compared to a normal full sized 0.5 oz nail polish), and it retails for $12.88, which I think is a bit high considering the bottle is mini sized. It's a pretty polish, but I would not pay full price for it. There are many other multi chrome nail polishes out there to choose from that don't cost quite as much.

Zoya Tove, with @BornPrettyStore BP-24

✯ PR Samples Mentioned ✯

I decided to do a little stamping with Zoya Tove (press sample), from the new Naturel Satins Collection. I started with two coats of Zoya Tove. After it was dry, I stamped with Konad White, and Born Pretty Store plate BP-24, which I purchased in December. No topcoat. I love how these turned out!

China Glaze: Capacity to See Beyond, Feather Mani

Last summer Lavish Layerings did a gorgeous manicure with feather decals from the Born Pretty Store, and I've been dying to recreate it ever since. So, when I placed a large order to the Born Pretty Store in December, I ordered a pack of these feather water decals: #1724.

For these nails, I started with China Glaze, Capacity to See Beyond, (from The Giver's Collection), a gorgeous bright aqua cream. The formula on this is rather thin and runny, it's very easy to flood your cuticles, so be careful. It worked best for me to apply it in 3 thin coats. I did my accent nail with 2 coats of Zoya Tomoko. Perfect gold texture polish.

The water decals are very easy to work with. You cut out the decals you want to use off the sheet. Then fill a bowl or cup with lukewarm water. For me, I hold the decal with my thumb & index finger in the water- you will start to feel the decal slide off onto your finger when it's ready. Then I flip it around and place on my nail. Don't be afraid of ruining the decal, they aren't that delicate- so it's easy to maneuver them. Once the decal is placed on my nail, I dab the excess water off with a napkin or tissue. (I finished one hand, before I started the other).

I wanted to add some gold detail. So with my very thin brush (also from the BPS), I lightly dabbed Zoya Tomoko along the feather line. I topped everything off with Seche Vite topcoat. I love everything about these!

Polar Bears, and Penguins... Oh My!

✯ PR Sample's Mentioned ✯

If you know me, I don't normally do free hand nail art, I usually stamp. But since I got a new brush set, I thought I would attempt some free hand. I have been seeing these cute holiday polar bears, and penguins on Facebook and Instagram a lot lately- so I decided to try my hand at them too. (There are quite a few tutorials online, or on youtube).

I started with a base of Nubar Rockin' The Garden. (Very sheer polish... opaque in 3-4 coats.) For the white I used OPI Alpine Snow. The black is Zoya Willa, the orange is Zoya Cole. I also fairy dusted the "snow", to add a more festive touch. I also used Seche Vite topcoat.

For the nail art, I used my brush set, and dotting tool that I purchased myself awhile ago from the Born Pretty Store. For the stamped snowflakes, I used stamp plate QA19 that the Born Pretty Store sent me for review.

It kind of looks like Mr. Polar Bear is checking out the Penguin there, huh?
And that Penguin sure looks like he's up to something! :-p

The Born Pretty Store was kind enough to send me some more nail art items to review. Today I will be reviewing 20 Pcs Mini Colorful Fresh Fruit: #7

PolishM: Lady Liberty, & BPS Decals.

✯ PR Sample ✯

*Note: Laquerlicious is now known as PolishM.

I picked up PolishM: Lady Liberty a few months ago, it is one of my untried nail polishes. Lady Liberty is a minty green (almost a Tiffany Blue), with gold glitter. I used 2 coats of Lady Liberty, plus Seche Vite topcoat for my manicure. Formula is great! And, the Born Pretty Store recently sent me some more nail art items to review, so today I will be reviewing the Rose Nail Water Decals: G103.

Born Pretty Store Review, with Zoya Yuna & Rue.

✯ PR Sample ✯

The Born Pretty Store was kind enough to send me some more nail art items to review! Today I will be reviewing the Happy Cat Pink Heart Pattern #K061, water decals.

I used two coats of Zoya Yuna and Rue, plus Seche Vite Topcoat. Once everything was dry I cut out the decals I was going to use and dipped them in water. These water decals sort of apply like temporary tattoos.

The only thing that threw me off when applying is that the design is backwards. Usually you press the decal immediately onto your nail after dipping it in the water, but when I did that the cat was backwards it just looked completely white. So, what I had to do was dip the decal in water- slide it off onto one of my fingers to flip it around, and then place it on my nail. I patted it dry gently with a napkin, and applied more topcoat. They weren't hard to apply, it only took a few minutes, I think they turned out quite cute! :-)

I think the little cat is adorable! :-)

Painted Polish: #PSL

Pumpkin Everything!!! I was so excited to see Painted Polish come out with a polish named after everyone's favorite Fall drink. #PSL, AKA Pumpkin Spice Latte! I have to say, I think this is my 2nd favorite after Drunk on Holo! #PSL is jam packed full of gold,  copper,  orange,  holographic glitter.

I started with 2 coats of OPI Vant To Bite My Neck?, then I dabbed on Painted Polish #PSL with a sponge to get the gradient effect. My accent nail is 2 coats of Zoya Taylor, stamped with Zoya Chanelle, and Bundle Monster BM023. Then I also stamped over that with Konad Black and BM413. Pinky is the same plate, with Konad White, topped off with ILNP My Private Rainbow, and Seche Vite topcoat.

I originally did these skull nails, because my husband & I were going to go visit the Mutter Museum on Wednesday, but unfortunately it was windy and pouring rain, (not so good for walking around downtown outside), so we will have to go another day. I've already been there a few times, but I wanted to go back. :)

And my thumbs, which you guys never usually see because I keep them super short for typing on touch screens- is stamped with Konad white and Born Pretty Store plate, QA5. Topped off with ILNP My Private Rainbow, and Seche Vite topcoat.

Lexi does re-stocks often, so be sure to follow her Facebook page, and Instagram for updates!

Nires Desire: Jezebel & Anam Cara.

I actually picked up these polishes quite a few months ago. Bad me... they were in my untrieds pile. Nire's Desire, Jezebel and Anam Cara.

Anam Cara, is a bright purple (sometimes blurple), with green shimmer. Opaque in two coats. Really nice smooth formula. Accent nail is stamped with Konad White, and Born Pretty Store stamp plate: QA76. Seche Vite topcoat.

Jezebel is a deep reddish pink, holographic polish. This is pretty much a one coater formula, though you can do two coats if you want. Applies very smoothly. Accent nail is stamped with Konad White, and Born Pretty Store stamp plate: QA76. I used Seche Vite topcoat.
